Cisto de Naboth was a japanese-brazilian obscure progressive/avant-garde black metal duo formed in 1997 by Naboth E. Coli (guitar/vocals) and Lord Cisto (drums). They were frequently noticed by the schizophrenic arrangements, brutally chaotic and out of sync drums, hellish noisy guitar riffs, and a will to unplease the listener no matter how: from the extremism and violence of the music nature to the flawed instrumental performance and goofy, ridiculous, nonsense motifs.
Altough living in Brazil, both members of the group were fugitives back then, so the project never had a proper hometown, and they could only record two albums plus an unfinished demo tape (with a stand alone blackened ambient/noise track) before finally been caught by police in summer 1999, putting an end to the project. Cisto de Naboth active period was brief due to all the rumours labeling them as troublemakers and the need for undercover places for gigs. They were accused of a series of crimes together including the murder of an old lady and setting fire at a small church. While arrested, the members were easily able to call local witnesses to prove "they didn't mean it" and all crimes were not on purpose (in the cases above, the church went on fire because of an acccident with their cigarettes, and Naboth ran over the old lady with his car unintentionally, also because of a cigarette - he claims he never saw the woman while looking for his lighter), wich helped him with his sentence, although they had to serve 6 years in prison by their faults and running away. Lord Cisto was freed under good conduct after 3 years but killed himself (november, 2002) right after reaching home. Naboth tried to escape his temporary licence for medical appointments to finish Cisto de Naboth's latest work but he couldn't, and ended up serving an additional year in jail. Leaving confinement, Naboth gave up on music and started following career as an electrician in 2007. During this time, influenced by his own job, Naboth recorded very few limited edition tapes featuring short "power electronics" and ambient music tracks, sent exclusively as a gift for friends and never commercialized. Besides that, he appeared as a guest on radio stations or records/gigs supporting other local acts, influencing the extreme music back to its primitive state, praising the brutal, unpretentious/awful playing of early black metal and its origin as the true essence of chaos, and cursing well rehearsed or overly produced bands. Now, 2020, during worldwide lockdown, Naboth finally got back into the music business, but announced he is not interested in creating anything related to black metal.
After nearly two decades out of sight, Cisto de Naboth rare albums are coming back, for the first time re-released, authorized by Naboth E. Coli himself, reproducing the original material and art along with new cover/back artwork, distributed by Ultra Gash Records. And for the first time, all their records will be available outside Brazil.
A Pústula dos Ímpios is their first full lenght record, featuring a unique raw, brute and dissonant guitar/drums core and surreal arrangements, only getting weirder until the end.
